SAINT JOHN OF COMPOSTELA – patron of Spain (standing)
This is the image of the pilgrim saint with his stick and a shell, as depicted on the Porta Santa of the Cathedral of Compostela in a picture dating back to the 18th century. In fact, the gospel of Saint Mark reads: “Jesus ordered his disciples not to take anything on their journey other than their sticks - neither bread, nor napsacks, nor money; they should simply wear sandals and not even put on a second tunic.”
